Cumbie leads Avengers to comeback win over Voodoo
Mar 1, 2008 - 8:03 AM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Sonny Cumbie completed 23-of-38 passes for 368 yards and seven touchdowns to lead the Los Angeles Avengers to a 59-42 comeback victory over the New Orleans Voodoo in the opening game of the Arena Football League season.Timon Marshall had nine catches for 116 yards and three touchdowns while Kevin Ingram made eight catches for 79 yards and a TD for the Avengers (1-0), who won their first playoff game in team history last season.
Wendell Williams had four catches for 65 yards and one touchdown and returned the opening kickoff for another score as the Voodoo (0-1) took a 33-28 lead into the locker rooms.
However, Los Angeles rallied by outscoring New Orleans, 31-9, in the second half en route to the decisive victory.
