Austin, Moore and Lewis Earn Weekly Honors

Jun 24, 2014 - 6:08 PM Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Cleveland Gladiators quarterback Shane Austin has been awarded Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week, while Spokane Shock Jack linebacker Terence Moore has been named Riddell Defensive Player of the Week and Cleveland Gladiators wide receiver Thyron Lewis has been named J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week for Week 15 of the 2014 NET10 Wireless Arena Football League season. In addition to these awards, the AFL is also awarding the Cutters Catch of the Week and AFL Highlight of the Week. Both honors have been awarded to Cleveland Gladiators wide receiver Dominick Goodman.

RUSSELL ATHLETIC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Austin (6-1, 200, Hawaii) set new career-highs with 409 passing yards and a franchise record 11 touchdowns in Cleveland's dramatic 69-68 victory over the Philadelphia Soul in Week 15. He completed 26-of-40 pass attempts on the night. Austin has thrown 26 touchdowns and zero interceptions over the last three weeks.

RIDDELL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Moore (6-2, 225, Troy) collected four tackles, two fumble recoveries and an interception in addition to accounting for a pair of defensive touchdowns in Spokane's 70-30 victory over the San Antonio Talons in Week 15. His first score of the night came on a nine-yard interception return for a touchdown in the first quarter. He also recorded the final touchdown of the game on a 27- yard strip-sack fumble return in the fourth quarter.

J. LEWIS SMALL PLAYMAKER OF THE WEEK

Lewis (6-4, 200, Howard) continued to build on his career year in Week 15, hauling in eight catches for four touchdowns and a season-high 172 yards in Cleveland's 69-68 win over the Philadelphia Soul. "T-Lew" has caught a touchdown pass in seven consecutive games for the Gladiators. He will be awarded a timepiece crafted by J. Lewis Small for his efforts.

CUTTERS CATCH OF THE WEEK / AFL HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK

Goodman (6-1, 210, Cincinnati) helped the Gladiators live up to their reputation as the AFL's "Kardiac Kids" in Week 15, swooping in to grab the 47-yard game-winning Hail Mary touchdown pass from Shane Austin as time expired to secure a 69-68 victory for the Gladiators over the Philadelphia Soul. The pass was thrown in the direction of Cleveland receiver Thyron Lewis in the end zone, while Goodman trailed the play to haul in the batted pass at the goal line for the Gladiators' fourth last-second win of the season. The victory also propelled Cleveland into the playoffs for the first time since 2011. Goodman, who finished the night with a game-high 10 catches for 168 yards and three touchdowns, will receive a Cutters hat and shirt in recognition of his highlight reel catch.

Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Nick Davila, Jacksonville's R.J. Archer, Orlando's Greg Carr, Pittsburgh's Tommy Grady and Spokane's Erik Meyer.

Riddell Defensive Player of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Marquis Floyd, Jacksonville's Justin Parrish, Philadelphia's James Romain, Pittsburgh's Al Phillips and Tampa Bay's James Harrell.

J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Tysson Poots, Jacksonville's Jared McGriff-Culver, Pittsburgh's Rodney Wright, Spokane's Terrance Sanders and Tampa Bay's Michael Lindsey.
