Grady, Jennings and Goodman Earn Weekly Honors

Jul 2, 2014 - 2:16 PM Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Pittsburgh Power quarterback Tommy Grady has been awarded Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week, while Philadelphia Soul defensive end Ted Jennings has been named Riddell Defensive Player of the Week and Cleveland Gladiators wide receiver Dominick Goodman has been named J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week for Week 16 of the 2014 NET10 Wireless Arena Football League season. In addition to these awards, the AFL is also awarding the Cutters Catch of the Week and AFL Highlight of the Week. The Cutters Catch of the Week has been awarded to Pittsburgh Power wide receiver Prechae Rodriguez, while the AFL Highlight of the Week has been awarded to Cleveland Gladiators wide receiver Collin Taylor.

RUSSELL ATHLETIC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Grady (6-7, 250, Utah) passed for a season-high 353 yards to go along with a single-game franchise record nine touchdowns in Pittsburgh's 64-48 victory over the Jacksonville Sharks last week. Grady, who leads the League with 3,975 passing yards in 2014, also eclipsed 22,000 yards for his career in the game. In addition, he is now two passing scores shy of Tony Graziani's mark of 494 for the 10th-highest career total in AFL history, and eight touchdown passes short of becoming just the 11th quarterback in pro football history to record 500 career touchdown passes.

RIDDELL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jennings (6-6, 270, Connecticut) set a single-game franchise record with 3.5 sacks in Philadelphia's 84-48 victory over the Iowa Barnstormers in Week 16. Jennings leads all AFL rookies with nine sacks this season and is now two sacks shy of Bryan Robinson's single-season franchise record of 11, set in 2013.

J. LEWIS SMALL PLAYMAKER OF THE WEEK

Goodman (6-1, 210, Cincinnati) hauled in an AFL season-high 16 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown in Cleveland's 48-41 victory over the Tampa Bay Storm in Week 16. It was his 13th consecutive game with a touchdown reception and his fifth 100-yard receiving performance of the season. He will be awarded a timepiece crafted by J. Lewis Small for his efforts.

CUTTERS CATCH OF THE WEEK

Rodriguez (6-4, 215, Auburn) made an over-the-wall four-yard touchdown catch in the back corner of the end zone during the second quarter of Pittsburgh's 64-48 victory over the Jacksonville Sharks in Week 16. Rodriguez finished the game with 10 catches for 165 yards and three scores. It was his third consecutive games recording triple-digit receiving yards and multiple touchdown receptions. He also eclipsed 4,000 receiving yards for his career in the contest. He will receive a Cutters hat and shirt in recognition of his highlight reel catch.

AFL HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK

Taylor (6-1, 200, Indiana) took a pop pass 46 yards for a touchdown to give the Gladiators the lead in the fourth quarter of Cleveland's 48-41 victory over the Tampa Bay Storm in Week 16. Taylor is the third different Cleveland receiver to garner AFL Highlight of the Week honors this season.

Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: Cleveland's Shane Austin, Philadelphia's Dan Raudabaugh, Portland's Eric Rogers, San Jose's Odie Armstrong and Spokane's Erik Meyer.

Riddell Defensive Player of the Week candidates included: Cleveland's Marrio Norman, New Orleans' Cameron McGlenn, Pittsburgh's Al Phillips, San Jose's Francis Maka and Spokane's Terrance Sanders.

J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week candidates included: Iowa's Julian Williams, Philadelphia's James Romain, Pittsburgh's Prechae Rodriguez, Portland's Jeffrey Solomon, San Jose's Jason Stewart and Spokane's Nichiren Flowers.
