Late drive propels Rattlers past Desperados
May 18, 2008 - 3:37 AM DALLAS (Ticker) -- Jeff Smoker threw for seven touchdowns Saturday, including the go-ahead score as time expired, leading the Arizona Rattlers to a 55-54 win over the Dallas Desperados.Smoker finished 29-of-45 for 350 yards for the Rattlers (5-6). Trandon Harvey had 12 catches for 145 yards and three TDs for Arizona.
Trailing 54-49 on Dallas' 40-yard line with 18 seconds remaining, Smoker found Todd Devoe for a 24-yard gain before Arizona called a timeout with three seconds left. After the break, the tandem hooked up again from 16 yards out to send the Rattlers to the dramatic victory.
Clint Dolezel went 14-of-25 for 256 and five TDs for the Desperados (9-2), who fell a half-game behind the Philadelphia Soul (10-2) for the best record in the league.
